They are, of course, famous for contributing to Manchester’s musical legacy with Oasis.
But brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher are also well-known for their tempestuous relationship, which has seen them go from best friends – to estranged enemies.
Their much-publicised rift reached a new low, yesterday, when the pair failed to put their differences aside for Manchester’s One Love concert, which was a tribute to the 22 victims of the MEN Arena attack.
A spokesperson for Noel explained that he was abroad, saying:” “Sadly, Noel will not be at the concert this weekend. He’s been out of the country on a longstanding family trip since before the concert was announced and is unable to attend.
“Needless to say he is very supportive of the event and wishes everyone huge success on the day.”
But, in typical behaviour, Liam hit back. Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “Manchester, I’d like to apologise for my brothers [sic] absence, last night. very disappointed. stay beautiful, stay safe. LG x”
He then added: “It ain’t about Oasis, it’s about people helping other people and he’s once again shown his true f*****g colours”. That quickly racked-up 226 replies, 5,763 retweets and 18,200 likes.
