Coronation Street actress Tracy Brabin ‘tipped’ to take over parliamentary seat of murdered MP Jo Cox

Former Coronation Street actress, Tracy Brabin is reportedly being lined-up to fill murdered MP, Jo Cox’s seat.

The 55-year-old already has the backing of Labour, it’s been claimed, and is expected to announce her bid to become the party’s candidate in the Bately and Spen by-election following the tragic death of the politician in June this year.

The Sun reports that Labour’s National Executive Committee will advertise the vacant position in the coming weeks, before applications are whittled down to three or four candidates.

Sources told the paper that Tracy, who has appeared on the box since the late 1980s, is a strong favourite to carry on Jo’s legacy.

“Tracy worked very closely with Jo on a number of local issues and is keen to carry on her work,” they said.

“She’s well known locally, she grew up around here and is seen as the best candidate by the local Labour party.
