Charlie Webster was overwhelmed in a video as she celebrated her gruelling cycle to Rio just 48 hours before she was struck down by malaria.
The Sky Sports News presenter – who contracted the disease and is fighting for her life in Brazil after being put in an induced coma – can be seen looking overjoyed as she thanks fans for their support after the 3,000 bike ride from London’s Olympic Stadium.
Speaking to 5 live Daily as the emotional star arrived in Rio earlier this month, she said: “I made it, can you believe it? Just feel so overwhelmed and relieved. I’ve just got goosebumps.
“Thank you so much for supporting me – 3,000 miles! I’ve come all this way, this was the goal at the end – I made it!”
