Heartbroken Michelle Dockery has paid an emotional tribute to her beloved fiance John Dineen, calling him my “my friend, my king, my hero, my everything”.
The Downton Abbey star gave the eulogy as she led mourners at the 34-year-old PR consultant’s funeral in Cork.
According to the Irish Independent the actress told the congregation at St James’ Catholic Church near Mr Dineen’s family home in the village of Waterfall: “I was honoured to know John. To love him and be loved by him.”
She then sang his favourite song – 1930s Hammerstein favourite ‘The Folks Who Live on the Hill’ from the altar which was lined with some of Mr Dineen’s favorite items including a childhood cuddly toy monkey and a rugby shirt and tie.
She said she used to sing the song to her partner.
The star, who plays Lady Mary Crawley in the ITV period drama , told mourners in the packed church: “John was a man of great depth and integrity.
