Dwayne Johnson shows off ‘dead caterpillar’ look aged 16 and jokes he beat ‘puberty’ at an early age

Dwayne Johnson is one of the most recognisable men in Hollywood – but he didn’t always have the same movie-star looks.

Before The Scorpion King – and even before The Rock – he was just like any other teenager, and it’s good to know he looks back with the same humour as the rest of us.

The San Andreas star shared a hilarious throwback snap aged 16 – although already he looked much older than his relatively young years.

He wasn’t helped by the self-confessed “porn ‘stache” in the picture, although by that point he was well on his way to becoming the huge physical specimen known around the world.

Johnson captioned the picture: “I was also 6’4 225lbs, rockin’ a dead caterpillar on my lip (aka the porn ‘stache) and all the kids in every high school thought I was an undercover cop cause I looked like a mutated, yet handsome SOB of a man child.

“Plus in Nashville I was already hangin’ out in honey tonk dive bars on Music Row and hustlin’ cars from crackheads.

“Yup, one of the many reasons why I’m a grateful man for the life I have today and also grateful I straight up kicked puberty’s ass early in life #GodBlessSamoanAndBlackGenetics #AndGodBlessOurTeenageYears #AndWTFWasIThinkingWithThisMustache (sic)”

Bit of a change

Hard work has paid off for the ripped wrestler-turned movie star, who even put his looks to good use earlier this year as he broke the selfie world record.

In a video posted on Instagram, The Rock – who needed more than 75 pictures in three minutes – posed with his certificate from Guinness World Records and celebrated his 105 selfies in front of the crowd.
