A devastated girlfriend has left the UK for a new life in Ibiza after her boyfriend was knifed to death on a night out.
Nicole McKay, 22, has struggled to cope since childhood sweetheart Jordan MacKay, 21, was killed.
Jordan’s killer, Jack Mallon, 37, was sentenced to 19 years behind bars for the cowardly attack in South Queensferry, near Edinburgh, last July.
His co-accused, Charlene Wilson, got nine years for culpable homicide after it was revealed she phoned Mallon to come to the pub to confront Jordan.
The young couple had been enjoying a night out, reports the Daily Record.
Nicole’s dad, Dave, 58, revealed his daughter had left for the Balearic island three weeks ago and now has a job in a bar.
He said: “Nicole has gone to get away from her horrendous experience.
“Our lives have changed forever and I don’t think we will ever be truly happy again.
“It is hard to remember what life was like before Mallon devastated our families.
“We feel heartbroken for Jordan’s parents, for they lost their son.”
Joiner Jordan, of Kirkliston, West Lothian, and Nicole had been at the Stag’s Head pub before he was attacked in the early hours of the morning.
Dave added: “The house seems empty without them.
“She calls every day and knows we are there for her. We have told her she can come home any time.”
Mallon and Wilson are appealing their convictions.
Speaking about the pair, Dave added: “People like them should be locked up forever in case they destroy other families.”
