“The name’s Bond. James Bond,” he said as he twirled his moustache. Maybe not.
Damian Lewis has been rumoured to become the next 007, but his latest look conjures up images of a villain rather than the ruthless British spy.
The star showed off his new facial hair as he stepped out in a top hat for the annual Royal Ascot, and it may make it harder for fans to imagine him in the role.

Complete with matching ginger sideburns, the look – whilst undoubtedly dapper – doesn’t seem to match the legacy of Bond on the big screen.
It’s almost a certainty the star would shave off the moustache – which has likely been grown for his role in American Buffalo on the West End – to play Bond, but the image of him as an evil villain is suddenly a tempting one.
Damian recently emerged as one of the frontrunners to take over from Daniel Craig as the fictional suave spy after punters placed big bets on the Homeland actor taking on the role.
Bookmakers have slashed their odds following the gamble, with William Hill offering just 6/4 that Damian will land the coveted role, while Ladbrokes make him their 2/1 favourite.
